Writing Task

Our writing task today is linked to the Science lesson we did last Friday.

• Re-watch the BBC video about Mary Anning's life.

• Imagine you are a palaeontologist (a dinosaur fossil hunter like Mary Anning).  Write about what you do all day – remember all the things that Mary did, like looking in the rocks and the cliffs along the seaside and using her hammer and chisel to carefully chip away at the rocks to get the fossils out.  You find a huge fossil (like Mary’s ichthyosaurus).  Describe how you feel?  Are you scared or excited?  Try to include a simile e.g. my heart was thumping like a drum.
