This is what Doves class prepared and read at our Remembrance Service on Friday:-

Today we remember people and animals who have lost their lives in wars, to help protect others.

The First World War Armistice took place at the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month in 1918.
This was between the Allies, represented by Great Britain and France, and Germany.

We wear red poppies to remember all the people and purple poppies to remember the animals (mostly horses, but also dogs and carrier pigeons).

Poppies grew in the churned up soil of the battlefields or Flanders Fields in Belgium, where there are many memorials today.

We made our own poppies in Forest School to remember them.

Evod loves books! During half term, Evod visited the local RBWM libraries at Ascot, Sunningdale and Sunninghill.

Evod borrowed these books and is going to share them with Dove class.

There was a poster at Sunningdale Library advertising a storytime. Please go along if you can.

Dove class will be visiting the school library every Wednesday. They will choose a book to take home and share with their family.

5th July 2023

Dear Year 1 (soon to be year 2) parents/carers,

It was lovely to work with the children in the Year 2 classroom this morning. We are really looking forward to working with you and your child.

As part of our mini topic ‘All about me’, which we will start in September, we would like your child to write a list (or just a sentence) about what they’ve done or just someone they’ve seen or a place they’ve visited over the holiday. Please draw a picture or stick a photo or object/s on the reverse. We will then display these in class. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Miss Hipkin and Mrs Spong

This was given out after the transition morning (just in case you've misplaced it). Are you keeping a list of activities or collecting reminders to choose a favourite to write about?

Bugs, Birds & Beasts Day 2023 Imperial College London are holding this free event at their Silwood Road site on Tuesday 25th July from 12:00pm. It is aimed at families, children and anyone with an interest in nature and wildlife. There will be a BBQ and refreshments available but you are also welcome to bring your own picnic If you are interested in going you can find more information here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bugs-birds-beasts-day-2023-tickets-624519092417 Did you go to this event?

On 29th July, I had a relaxing walk by the river in Old Windsor. I enjoyed watching the different boats going through the lock and looking at the wildlife - what did I see?

I thought you might like to see how my ducklings have changed. They are now 11 weeks old and nearly as big as their parents! I'm not sure if they're male or female yet.

The sunflower seeds you planted continue to grow well outside your new classroom.

We have been measuring the sunflowers (real and plastic) with metre sticks. How tall do you think my sunflowers are at home? (I am 183cm tall)
