Parents - The attachment below is for you. I hope you find it useful. In summary, it gives you some ideas for turning everyday jobs around the home into meaningful learning experiences.

 Thursday 23rd April,

Good morning Wrens, I hope you are all well and enjoying the home learning for this week. I am sure you will be delighted to hear that Mrs Coe will be back next week and will be setting the home learning for you from next week.  We have all missed her at school and are delighted that she is back. In the meantime, I have another video to show you of what has been changing around our school grounds. Take a look, I think you will be very surprised at what has changed over the last couple of weeks. I hope you enjoy it !

If you would like a challenge, listen carefully during the video as I will be asking you if you can remember the name of the tree I am looking at. If you can't remember then look carefully at the leaves and the trunk of the tree and see if you can look at some books or the internet to find out the name, maybe a grown-up could help you. I wonder who will be the first person to email the class page with the correct name of the tree, and for a bonus point can you name the tree to the right ( the one that had big leaf buds)?  Good luck.

  Wednesday 1st April

Hi Wrens, I was up on the school field today and noticed something in this tree, the tree is covered in blossom but can you spot the visitor - you will need to look very carefully!

Tuesday 31st March

Morning Wrens! I hope you are all well. Today would have been our Forest School Day so I have used the time to go on a short spring walk around school. I stopped at the tree we look at every week to spot signs of change and have videoed what I found. I wonder if you will find anything similar on your spring walk?

Stay safe, be kind and have a good day x

Reception Home Learning Video Link

Listed below is a link to some great reception home learning videos – Mrs Underwood Reception Home Leaning video. The videos are free to purchase, you need to provide an email address and then they are emailed across to you. There are currently 5 days’ worth of video on the site. The video can take a while to download so alternatively they are also on youtube so I have attached the links for days 1-4 on youtube as well.

Each video goes through a range of activities starting with reciting the alphabet, phonics, caption writing and reading, number work and finishing with a story. The video has no sound (apart from the story being read at the end!) The video begins with the alphabet where children can just say the letter names as they appear. In the phonics section they need to say the sounds as the letter/grapheme appears.  After that, each slide is self-explanatory. Again with the numbers slides, just read the numbers as they appear. Each slide can be paused to allow the children enough time to complete the activity. Anything that they record can be done so in their books

This is an optional resource that you can use at home. Use as much or as little of it as you like. If it works for you and your child please use it, if not don’t worry.                     Mrs Summers
